I really enjoy your writing style and how you discussed a complex philosopher like Hegel with examples from your daily life, a beautiful closing, and great emphasis on Hegel's interpretability ahhaha

I wonder whether your stroke length calculations came out similar to the Phil Kenyon Tempostik, which performs a similar function (takes distance, slope, stimp, and through tempo and spits out a backstroke length)

Funny you mention him, I got a lesson with him last year. I saw my stroke pos/velo/acc graph on SAM PuttLab and tried to build something from first principles that looked like the ideal chart I saw. Sketched out the shapes of the curves and tried to build them segment by segment with straight lines and sine curves. I fit those to a physics simulation and a chart of his ideal stroke lengths, then parameterized the whole thing so you can adjust for swing weight, total weight, green speed, tempo, etc. All of this started because I’m comfier with my stroke at 165-170bpm than the 180bpm he recommends.

Definitely unnecessary, but it was a fun half day and I learned a ton putting it together. But I’d definitely trust Kenyon’s over mine!!
